The law is just a means to an end in the situation I was describing. I think you are wrong. If Ellison does know of this video posted on YouTube (and I believe he does), I believe he feels very strongly about the message...strongly enough to let it play as a sort of public service announcement. But hey, I am just a person with an opinion. Why don't you write to Ellison and ask him?

The law is not designed to make people feel miserable. It is designed to bring out the truth. He probably could take this off youtube, but he probably doesn't feel strongly because it is not part of his "soul".

No, I'm not Harlan Ellison. Regardless, if he wanted to pull this video from YouTube, I am pretty sure he could do it. And I am pretty sure he is probably aware of it being here. Of course I could be wrong (but I am not). From what I have read about Ellison, if he is pissed off badly enough, he is the kind of man who would push a lawsuit he couldn't win, just to prove a point, make you miserable and waste your time and money. Just to prove that there are some people you just don't mess with.

Yeah. They are screwing over the dreamers who dreamed the dreams in the first place. Then they turn around and buy, then rewrite and retool some poor guy's work to make it more trendy, with some explosions and more titties and then it becomes some bastard stepchild of the original vision of the writer. All because some jackass decided that the majority of ticket buyers want a certain kind of movie. What they don't care about is that we don't want it all the time. Somthin' ain't right about that.

If Harlan Ellison was even marginally offended that you would hear his opinion without paying, he would sue the short hairs off of you and all involved. And he would probably win. I get the feeling he is giving us this little gem for free because the underlying message is so important to him. So don't break your arm patting yourself on the back.
