This song one of their frieds got killed in vietnam . FDR did his best to stop the old colonisers returning to s e asia after the japanese defeat . However the British Navy took the french out there alongside German mercenries to take from the fighters who fought the Japanese . Very sad well sung . thanks for posting . john

This was one of the most politically significant songs of the Vietnam Era. WE all believed at the time that it referred to John F. Kennedy as the martyr, and "black and white was the question that so bothered him." But it could well have referred to Robert Kenney. It is an incredibly noble anthem of the anti-war movement. By far, the best effort ever put forth by The Association.

I hope this video inspires young musicians to consider that popular music can be more than a formulaic business; it can also be a fine art.
