I never thought anyone could do that song justice with a cover, Lennon's original is so amazing.
personally I prefer Lennon's, but this is just amazing. In my opinion the best song green day has done, no offence to their own songs or anything I just think this is one of lennon's best and there is no embaressment in not being as good as the legendary john lennon.

Green Day did a very great job with this song. However, some songs are just meant to be sung by the original artist. This is one of those songs... But, as some of you had said, it is a way to get the message across to todays generation.

I'd agree that since Green Day has alot of listeners that it's good to get John's message across to a wider and newer audience.
BUT the meaning of this song really doesn't go too well with the genocide in Sudan. Lennon's words were much more about industrial and socialized countries (As he talks about 20 odd years of schooling). |
