The Vaults were officially activated on October 23, 2077. The first, last, and only day of the Great War. Basicly, thecold war never occured, and the 1950's way of life never died out, leaving a technologicly advanced, but socialy backward future. This is Fallout 3 because; War, War Never Changes.

ok, they started the vaults in 1950s, war was in 2077, you play in the year 2277
thats official. check the library from the moria brown quest. on the front desk theres a terminal. get on it and click check in book, it says 200 years overdue. and when u load in the newspapers it says saomething war then 2077 so yea...

No. The first they went in the vaults after the 2000s. Or something like that from reading the manual.
But had a 50s feel. :/

theres an upgraded version of the combat shot gun called the terrible shot gun and u can get it at evergreen mills in the raider area at the back. but u gotta kill the trader u run into at the back
