Yes, HostGator is great for WordPress. You really don't have to do anything--takes care of itself. As for DNS servers, ask HostGator which name servers you should set to. Then use those name server designations when you set up your domain (GoDaddy has a section where you can put in those DNS server names, for example).

I use them for WordPressDirect. I am confused by the whole DNS servers thing...I will do a live chat with them now.

Hostgator is great for hosting...bad for most everything else.

Point taken. But it needs to be noted that cpanel is one of the features of Hostgator.
